An unshielded twisted pair are like telephone wires.

They are two copper wires twisted together in a spiral pattern.
One pair establishes one communication link.
It transmits electromagnetic signals.
And are simular to telephone wires in the ground.
You can get shielded or unshielded twisted pairs.
According to their protection against magnetic fields.
They need to be connected to the back of a hard drive(HUB).
To the tranceiver in side the hub.

Coaxial cable is a transmission line for high frequency signals.

The cable has a solid central conductor which is surrounded by an insulator, which in turn is surrounded by a cylindrical shield woven from fine wires.
Coaxial cable is used to carry high frequency signals such as video or radio.
The shield is usually connected to electrical ground to reduce electrical interference.











 
FIBER OPTIC CABLE




"Fiber optics" is the term used to describe the technology of transmitting information as light impulses along a glass or plastic wire (or 'fiber'). Fiber optic cable carries much more information than conventional copper wire and is a lot less sensitive to interference from electromagnetic sources. Many telephone long-distance lines are now fiber optic.

Fiber optic cable requires the transmissions to be repeated at distance intervals and requires more protection within the outer cable than copper. For these reasons and because installation of any new wiring is costly and labor-intensive, few communities yet have fiber optic cables from their phone companies' branch offices to local customers.
